Guest Speaker: Dr. Juan Gonzalez
Juan M. Gonzalez holds a doctorate in industrial/organizational (I/O) psychology and a master’s degree in public administration. Juan teaches psychology as an assistant professor and oversees the graduate I/O program at the University of the Incarnate Word located in San Antonio, TX. He has been teaching at the college level for nearly twenty years.
Juan served in the Air Force for ten years before being honorably discharged. Juan’s research focuses on veterans’ transition issues and employment challenges. He remains active in serving the veteran community and assisting veterans with their transition back to civilian life.
Program Information
The presentation offers a theory explaining veterans’ transition out of the military, the changes this transition has to their self-identity and subsequent employment decisions. The presentation provides insight into the differences between military and civilian life from the perspective of veterans along with offering a model for integrating and retaining veterans in the workplace.
